The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS143

A long coat and lowered sabre give WS143 a formal mounted silhouette. The officer sits upright on a brown horse, with his raised hand and turned attention suggesting an order or conversation beyond the base.

The cavalry group has a specific allegiance

King & Country presents the officer in Cossack clothing with German badges. This is part of the German-service Cossack grouping, rather than a Soviet cavalry figure.

The German Federal Archives’ horse-service gallery includes photographs of the 1st Cossack Division at Mielau in 1943. The period record gives the mounted subject a concrete setting within a war often pictured mainly through tanks.

The horse supplies a quiet platform

The animal stands with its head raised, letting the officer’s long upper outline remain the focus. White lower-leg markings provide small contrasts beneath the darker saddle and rider.

The sabre points down beside the horse. It is a fine projecting detail, and an important part of identifying the officer rather than one of the rifle-carrying patrol figures.

Colour separates cloth, leather and horse

The long grey-green coat covers more of the rider than the shorter jackets used on WS145 and WS146. Brown saddle equipment adds a warmer band between the uniform and the horse.

A side-quarter view shows that layering clearly. It also gives the sabre room to remain visible rather than blending into the animal’s flank.

A centre for a mounted group

WS148’s pointing rider can suggest a report to the officer, while WS147’s dismounted man offers a lower companion. Those are display relationships rather than a reconstruction of a named meeting.

WS143 adds command, a distinctive coat and a drawn sabre to the group. The WS retrospective keeps the wider wartime context alongside those striking cavalry details.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS143 product record lists a release date of April 2010 and a retirement date of January 2012. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
