The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD233
The Sten gives DD233 a very different weapon outline from the rifleman beside him. Its tubular shape and projecting magazine sit across a kneeling commando whose knitted cap and pale webbing are as conspicuous as the gun.

An economical wartime design
The National Army Museum’s Sten Mk II record describes a simple, comparatively inexpensive weapon made using pressed-metal components and welding. It also records the shortcomings that accompanied the design.
That history is a useful counterpoint to the more elaborate-looking Thompson. The Sten’s plain appearance in miniature reflects a real difference in the weapon’s design story.
The face has room to contribute
The gun is held below the shoulder, leaving the head fully visible. The figure’s slightly raised attention gives him a different personality from DD232’s more sideways-looking rifleman.
The pale straps form strong lines across the brown jacket. The weapon adds a darker horizontal shape beneath them.
Two kneeling commandos, two distinct identities
DD232 carries a rifle; DD233 carries the Sten named in his release record. Their similar height makes them useful companions, but the weapon and head positions keep them from becoming duplicates.
They can occupy different sides of a small opening or sit near a larger vignette. Give the magazine some clear space so its distinctive outline does not merge with another man’s sleeve.
The release that fills the quieter space
The commando grouping includes several tightly connected two-man scenes. DD233 supplies a single figure who can stand apart from those interactions and remain readable on his own.
His place in the catalog comes from that compact kneeling pose, the recognizable Sten and the contrast between dark clothing and light equipment. The combination rewards a closer look without needing a large action scene around it.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD233 product record lists a release date of April 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
