The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD221
The BAR stretches across DD221’s body, giving this 82nd Airborne trooper a broader outline than the carbine-carrying men nearby. He is moving with the weapon rather than lying behind it.

A design that crossed several wars
The National Army Museum’s BAR entry records a weapon designed in 1917 that continued through the Second World War and Korea. Its detachable magazine and substantial body make it visually different from the ordinary rifle.
The miniature’s title gives the exact weapon family and the announcement identifies the 82nd. Those two details are more useful for searching the collection than a generic label such as American soldier.
The gun is also a carried load
The hands are spread along the weapon, which crosses the figure at waist height. The dark metal contrasts with the brown stock and the lighter clothing behind it.
The equipment on the torso creates a busy surface, but the long gun remains easy to trace from end to end. A side-quarter view helps preserve that clear line.
Compare him with the prone gunner
DD215 represents a BAR man stretched along the ground. DD221 changes the same broad subject into a travelling figure, exposing more of the chest and the front of the uniform.
Putting the two in a catalog comparison makes the sculptural difference obvious. They are separate releases with different footprints and different jobs within a display.
The movement between positions
A walking gunner can follow a scout, join a halted group or approach a road junction. Those arrangements let the weapon specialist participate in the movement of a larger airborne scene.
DD221 belongs as the mobile counterpart to the lower firing subjects. The long BAR and the man carrying it give the collection another way to show equipment as part of a soldier’s daily physical burden.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD221 product record lists a release date of August 2013 and a retirement date of September 2018. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
