The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS125

The sloping hull and four large wheels of WS125 belong to a French armoured-car design, while the crosses and camouflage identify the German service portrayed by King & Country. That contrast is the most interesting thing about the release.

Captured vehicles changed owners

The manufacturer presents a Panhard in two-tone camouflage with the 2nd SS Division Das Reich before the Normandy invasion. Two crew figures accompany the vehicle: one in the turret and another standing outside with binoculars.

French origin and German use are both recorded in the catalog categories. The first describes the vehicle’s design; the second describes this model’s represented operator.

A surviving photograph makes the broader story tangible

The Paris Musées collection holds a photograph of a Panhard 178 with German markings in Paris on 25 August 1944. It documents the reuse of the French vehicle type during the occupation and liberation period.

That museum photograph is a historical comparison, not evidence that WS125 reproduces the particular car in it. The model’s divisional attribution comes from its release announcement.

The outside crewman changes the scale

The standing figure gives an immediate human comparison beside the hull. His binoculars also turn the display toward observation, while the turret crewman keeps the upper part of the car occupied.

The turret’s narrow gun contrasts with the broad wheels and angular body. A front-quarter view catches all three features without flattening the vehicle into a side profile.

A useful detour from the usual German armour

WS125 broadens the collection beyond vehicles designed and built for the German armed forces. It introduces the history of captured equipment through a recognizable French machine.

Preserve the two original crew figures when documenting a complete example. Their positions, the camouflage and the German markings distinguish this release from another Panhard version that happens to share the same underlying shape.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WS125 product record lists a release date of February 2009 and a retirement date of May 2010. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
