The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS107
Two cameras and one extended-arm salute give WS107 three very different gestures. A movie cameraman bends into his work, a still photographer holds his camera up and an officer stands beside them.

What the release includes
The archived announcement identifies three SS correspondents: the saluting officer, movie cameraman and Leica-equipped photographer. It suggests Hitler’s Paris visit as one setting while leaving the group usable elsewhere.
No staff car comes with WS107. The related Paris-visit Mercedes belongs to WS106.
These were propaganda personnel
The Bundesarchiv’s account of its Waffen-SS photographic collection explains that the propaganda units produced images, films and texts intended to support German morale and influence audiences. Material was censored before publication.
That context matters when interpreting the word correspondent. These figures represent personnel within the Nazi military propaganda system, not an independent press observing it from outside.
What lies beyond the edge of the picture?
A camera points toward something and leaves everything behind it out of view. The two photographers make that selection unusually visible in miniature: their bodies and equipment tell the viewer where attention is being directed.
In a display, leave a clear sightline in front of each camera. A passing vehicle or standing personality can provide the subject, while an explanatory caption can remind the viewer that an image is also a chosen viewpoint.
The poses reward different angles
The crouched movie cameraman creates a low diagonal, contrasting with the upright officer’s arm. The still photographer occupies a middle height. A shallow arc preserves those differences better than placing the men directly behind one another.
Small camera projections are also important to the release’s identity, so close seller photographs are particularly useful when considering a loose example.
Why it broadens the catalog
WS107 makes the recording and presentation of war part of the subject. It invites a more thoughtful look at the photographs that often inspire military miniatures, including the intentions and omissions behind the original image.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS107 product record lists a release date of April 2008 and a retirement date of July 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
