The Operation ToyBox catalog · WS087
A bright red-and-white paddle gives WS087 its focal point. Beside a grey motorcycle and sidecar, a German military policeman signals passing traffic to stop while his companion remains astride the machine.
A roadside exchange, caught halfway through
The two Feldgendarmes are occupied with different tasks. One looks outward toward the approaching road; the rider stays close to the handlebars with a document in his hand. The space between them feels functional, as though they have just pulled over.
The archive presents a spot check of vehicles. No stopped car or truck is included, leaving the other side of that encounter open for a larger display.
Three details worth finding in the photograph
- The standing man’s raised paddle supplies a small, strong colour accent above the otherwise muted group.
- The rider’s paper creates an administrative detail alongside the machine pistol and military equipment.
- The sidecar widens the vehicle on one side, so its footprint is noticeably different from a solo motorcycle.
Road control belongs in the campaign story
Military movement involves junctions, checks and delays as well as vehicles travelling at speed. This release offers a way to represent that less spectacular activity without filling a shelf with another large armoured vehicle.
The WS catalog overview places the range in its wider historical setting. The Feldgendarmerie subject also explains the Wehrmacht and support categories attached to this particular entry.
Give the signal somewhere to point
A narrow road edge works particularly well here. Leave a clear approach in front of the raised paddle so that the viewer can imagine the vehicle being stopped. WS088 offers a related checkpoint group, but its dismounted men and camouflage combination make it a distinct release rather than an alternative name for this one.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived WS087 product record lists a release date of March 2007 and a retirement date of June 2009. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
