The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD185

DD185 bends forward as he advances, carrying his bayoneted rifle low across the front. The upper body looks compressed and cautious, while the long blade extends the scene ahead of his feet.

Movement without a full running stride

The archived description identifies a GI making his way forward with bayonet fixed. The saved image shows bent knees and a lowered torso, rather than the wide stride of a charging figure.

That distinction gives the sculpt its own mood. The movement is visible, but it remains contained within a compact shape.

The bayonet is an identifying detail

The blade extends well beyond the rifle’s muzzle and catches the light in the reference photograph. Its length makes it important both to the silhouette and to checking the condition of an individual example.

A cropped seller image can conceal that projection. Ask the photograph to show the whole figure and weapon before deciding that a loose example matches the original reference.

A useful contrast with DD186

The companion kneeling rifleman carries a similarly bayoneted weapon but rests at a different height. Comparing the two makes the change from movement to a stationary low pose easy to see.

The D-Day historical catalog provides the broader campaign setting. Neither brief product description identifies a particular pair of real soldiers in a documented action.

Why the advancing figure belongs

DD185 adds a cautious moving posture to the American infantry selection. A little clear space ahead of the rifle lets that direction remain visible in a display.

The bent body, fixed bayonet and original base distinguish the release from other advancing GIs. Keeping those details attached to the code helps recover its identity when several similar infantry figures are sold together.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD185 product record lists a release date of August 2012 and a retirement date of June 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
