The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD161
DD161 gives the familiar jeep a much less open appearance. Tall armour plates surround the driver, with a machine gun above and the recognizable grille and small wheels still visible below.

The comparison begins with a winter predecessor
The archived announcement identifies this as a summer treatment of an earlier Battle of the Bulge armoured jeep. It specifies ordinary wheels without snow chains and a new driver figure.
Those are the useful release distinctions. An armoured jeep offered in an old listing should be compared by finish, wheels and driver, rather than assigned to DD161 solely because it has similar protective panels.
The ordinary vehicle is still underneath
The saved photograph shows the compact proportions of the jeep beneath the much taller upper silhouette. The white star on the bonnet and the equipment carried along the side remain visible around the added plates.
The driver is more enclosed than in an open jeep, which makes an elevated viewing angle helpful. A very low photograph can hide nearly all of the figure.
Normandy as the intended display setting
The release announcement proposes the vehicle for a Normandy 1944 collection. The D-Day series history provides that wider campaign setting.
The short product record does not establish a specific unit’s documented conversion or identify the driver. The model’s represented configuration should remain separate from a claim about one photographed historical jeep.
Why this version belongs separately
DD161 changes the silhouette of a very familiar vehicle while preserving its small size. Beside DD180’s canvas-covered utility jeep, it makes the manufacturer’s different treatments of the same basic subject easy to see.
Its original summer finish, armour arrangement and driver give it a clear place in the catalog, with the separately numbered DD162 trailer available as a related transport subject.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD161 product record lists a release date of March 2012 and a retirement date of March 2024. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
