The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD155

DD155 stands upright in a salute, the red top of his cap providing a bright accent above otherwise practical British uniform colours. It is a formal pose for a figure whose wider service performed much more than ceremonial work.

A small naming detail with a date behind it

The National Army Museum’s corps history explains that the Corps of Military Police received its Royal prefix in 1946. For a Second World War subject, the earlier name is the appropriate period designation.

The same history records wartime expansion and specialist work at ports and vulnerable installations. That background gives this single saluting figure a broader place in the army’s support organization.

The salute supplies the relationship

The saved photograph shows the right hand raised to the cap, with the other arm held straight. The erect posture contrasts with the walking American escort figures released nearby.

It suggests an officer or passing party outside the frame. A named senior commander can supply that relationship in a display, but the original description does not identify a particular inspection.

Colour without a large scenic piece

The red cap and pale webbing keep the figure readable against a simple background. Its narrow upright silhouette needs very little scenery to establish its activity.

A staff car or headquarters entrance could enlarge the setting, though neither is part of the single-figure release.

Why this support figure belongs

DD155 introduces British military policing into the D-Day collection. It can connect the campaign’s leadership and transport subjects while remaining distinct from American MPs.

The full code, salute and red cap are the useful identifiers when comparing loose figures. Keeping the period corps name correct adds a small but worthwhile piece of historical precision to an otherwise straightforward catalog entry.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD155 product record lists a release date of September 2011 and a retirement date of June 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
