The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD148
Both men in DD148 lie prone with M1 rifles, but they are occupied differently. One fires while the other reloads. The pair turns a repeated weapon into a small study of two adjacent moments.

The Garand behind the familiar silhouette
The National Park Service’s Springfield Armory history traces the M1 to John Garand’s development work and its adoption in 1936. Its semiautomatic design became a defining feature of American infantry equipment during the Second World War.
That background makes the rifles more than generic long objects in the figures’ hands. The original set description specifically names the Garand and distinguishes the two activities.
Watch the hands, not just the helmets
The firing figure stays low behind his rifle. His companion raises his upper body slightly and works at the weapon, giving the second sculpt a different arrangement of elbows and shoulders.
Those details are useful identifiers when the pair is separated from its box. Two prone GIs with similar helmets do not automatically form the original DD148 combination.
A pair with its own rhythm
Placed at a slight offset, the men remain related without one rifle concealing the other. Their long, low bases also work differently from the upright figures in DD151.
The D-Day overview supplies the wider campaign history. This release does not name a particular firefight or identify two historical soldiers.
DD148 belongs in the catalog because the sculptor gave the men different tasks rather than repeating one pose. Keep both figures associated in the contents record, even if they are eventually positioned on opposite sides of a larger infantry display. The original two-man relationship is part of the release’s collecting identity.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD148 product record lists a release date of June 2011 and a retirement date of January 2014. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
