The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD088
DD088 supplies three American tankers at three different heights: one standing, one kneeling and one lying down to work. Together they move the collecting story outside the turret.
A crew group without its own tank
The archived release identifies a standing sergeant, a kneeling NCO and a mechanic. It recommends them beside the Classic Sherman, but the tank is a separate release.
The saved photo records the original three-man combination. That matters when a listing shows the figures arranged around a vehicle and makes the contents less obvious.
Maintenance belongs in the historical picture
A tank display naturally draws the eye toward armour and armament. A mechanic makes the same vehicle look like a working machine that required people’s attention.
The D-Day catalog overview gives the wider campaign setting. DD088 contributes the quieter activity around the equipment, without naming a specific workshop, battalion or historical incident.
Three heights create a small scene
The standing man sets the scale, the kneeling figure draws the eye downward, and the mechanic brings attention to ground level. Their different postures create variety before any scenery is added.
Leave a clear view of the lowest figure. Placing him entirely behind a track or wheel would hide the part of the set that makes the maintenance theme apparent.
Why the group earns its own entry
DD088 is more than an anonymous bundle of spare crew. It is a documented three-figure release with a specific combination of roles.
Keeping that combination recorded lets collectors distinguish the original set from figures gathered later out of unrelated American vehicle boxes.
Release record and collecting notes
Sager’s archived DD088 product record lists a release date of May 2008 and a retirement date of April 2011. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
