King & Country WH037 This Way Lads: The Gesture That Gives a Squad Direction

A Feldwebel with a visible job

The archived description identifies the soldier as a Feldwebel, a German noncommissioned officer. He holds a rifle while indicating where the men should move.

The role explains the gesture without needing an invented command spoken by the figure. It is the relationship with the rest of a group that makes the pose work.

Let nearby figures answer the gesture

Place the NCO where his arm points into open space or toward the movement of other figures. If he points directly into a high wall, the scene becomes harder to read.

The kneeling posture also allows standing or running figures to remain visible behind him.

Why this single figure does more than fill a gap

WH037 can connect otherwise independent infantry poses into a shared scene. The code preserves the specific NCO identity, while the photograph records the arm, rifle and kneeling stance that distinguish it from other pointing officers in the collection.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH037 product record lists a release date of August 2015 and a retirement date of October 2020. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
