The Operation ToyBox catalog · WH031

The small container in WH031’s hand tells the whole story. This German soldier has stopped to eat, with his attention on a mess tin instead of the rifle and equipment he carries.

An ordinary task worth a miniature

The release description identifies a meal break. The reference image shows the man standing in his field cap, holding the container at waist height and bringing the other hand toward his mouth.

That everyday gesture gives the figure a different purpose from the series’ firing and running poses. It can make a collection feel inhabited between its more dramatic scenes.

The army beyond the battle pose

The WH catalog’s historical overview includes the wider military setting and the responsibilities of the army represented. A figure eating supplies a personal-scale detail within that history, without telling us what this anonymous man thought or where he served.

The miniature does not identify the contents of the meal. Describing a particular ration or recipe would add a detail the available record does not establish.

A pause among other figures

WH031 can be read beside seated soldiers, transport or a roadside scene. A little open space around his hands keeps the action legible; hiding the mess tin would turn him into a much less distinctive standing figure.

There is also no need to build a complete field kitchen around him. The sculpt already contains the essential activity.

Why this quiet release belongs

The set records a mundane need that military collecting can easily overlook. For identification, look at the cap, the raised hand and the tin together. Those details distinguish WH031 from the other resting or drinking figures in the range.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH031 product record lists a release date of April 2015. These are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
