The Operation ToyBox catalog · DD055

DD055 shows Winston Churchill in naval dress, with a walking stick and the familiar raised V-sign. The dark clothing gives the single figure a strong outline, while the release’s stated occasion connects him with a specific visit to Normandy.

The date is part of the story

Churchill visited on 12 June 1944, six days after D-Day. Imperial War Museums’ film record documents his arrival ashore by DUKW and subsequent visit to Montgomery’s headquarters.

That gives the miniature a historical setting beyond a general portrait of the prime minister. It also keeps the figure separate from an imagined landing with the first assault waves.

A compact set of identifying details

The archived product description identifies the naval uniform and the D-Day-plus-six visit. The saved photograph shows the cap, binoculars, stick and raised hand together.

Those features are useful when comparing other Churchill figures. A broad online title may name the man while leaving out which pose and uniform are actually offered.

A visit within an active campaign

The surviving film describes meetings and briefings after the beachhead had been established. A headquarters or arrival scene therefore gives this figure a more grounded setting than placing him in the middle of a first-wave beach assault.

A single representative portrait does not recreate every detail of that visit, but it can provide a clear starting point for learning about it.

Why the figure belongs here

DD055 connects the D-Day collection with political leadership and the first days after the invasion. Its small scale does not prevent a precise historical occasion from being recorded.

When checking a used example, compare the stick and raised fingers carefully with the reference. They are small projecting details, but they carry much of the pose’s identity.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived DD055 product record lists September 2004 as the release date and July 2013 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
