The Operation ToyBox catalog · WH029

WH029 kneels beside a mine warning sign. The skull-and-crossbones graphic rises above the working figure, making the sign the first thing a viewer notices and the hands the detail discovered on a closer look.

A different height in the engineer group

The original description identifies protective gloves and work with wire at the sign. The reference photograph shows the bare arms, lowered posture and upright wooden sign together.

That combination distinguishes the release from a loose scenic warning board. The figure is part of the subject, and the relationship between his hands and the post gives the scene its action.

A sign records a dangerous landscape

The British Ministry of Defence’s Normandy account describes mines and obstacle clearance among the challenges of the landings. The miniature makes one visible marker of that landscape part of a collecting scene.

It remains a representative subject. Neither the sign nor the pose identifies a documented location for this particular figure.

Let the graphic stay readable

A simple background helps the dark symbol and lettering remain visible. Place a taller figure immediately behind the board and the sign can become harder to distinguish.

The kneeling posture also works well beside a standing engineer, giving a small group a change in height. Keep enough space around the lower figure to see the gloves and the work at the post.

More than a generic accessory

WH029 belongs in both the work-party discussion and the scenic side of the catalog. It combines an individual activity with an object that helps explain the surrounding area.

For identification and condition, compare the complete board, post, figure and visible wire arrangement with the reference image. A close-up of the sign alone would leave out much of what makes this release distinct.

Release record and collecting notes

Sager’s archived WH029 product record lists June 2015 as the release date and October 2020 as the retirement date. Those are catalog dates, rather than a statement about today’s secondhand availability. Compare the seller’s actual photographs with the reference image here, including any projecting equipment and the base; a familiar box title alone is not a condition report.
